Fringe Fever: Marbles and Safe Space

Hey friends!

It's September, and the Philadelphia FringeArts Festival is underway. I open two shows this week! Here are some life/art/rambling updates:

1. Since May, I've been hard at work on Marbles. It's a new short play about love, technology and anxiety. I wrote it. And am producing it. And acting in it, alongside my friend Sam Sherburne. (Doing ALL of the things!) The piece is staged in a South Philly coffee shop, which is super fun and intimate and lovely. It features wonderful direction by William Steinberger.  We are a Phindie and a uwishunu pick for the entire Fringe Festival, which is beyond thrilling. We open THURSDAY. And.....We are almost sold out for the run! There are still tickets for Thursday at 8, Friday at 6:30 and *a few* for Friday at 8. The rest is standing room. Wahoo!
It's been a real pleasure and challenge to develop this piece, and I feel extremely lucky for the support of a fabulous artistic team throughout this process. Here's our fb page, our fb event, and our ticketing page. CHECK US OUT! Can't wait to share it with the folk of Philadelphia.

2. Safe Space opens tomorrow! (Technically....today!) Eeep! It's a new piece about college students playing a LARP game (look that ish up... I hadn't heard of it either) written by the brilliant Emily Acker, Emma Goidel and Doug Williams. Directed by the inimitable Maura Krause. It's fun, silly, engaging, inventive, immersive, theatre. We perform in different rooms on the third floor of Doug's house; audience members get to follow the actors around in a "choose-your-own-adventure" sort of narrative. Here's the fb event and the show blog, where you can get ticket info/check out some of the fabulous press we've received! Psyched to open this project, and grateful for the enormously silly and giving cast and crew.

3. Shakespeare in Clark Park's Henry IV: Your Prince and Mine was a smashing success, and an all-around joy. I got to play camp counselor to a group of kind, talented, enthusiastic Philly adults turned warriors for a month! And then I led them in battle as their punchy (albeit under-qualified) lieutenant. The show received some lovely coverage - the 100-person community army really struck a chord with people. Check out philly.com and newsworks reviews of the show. And check out this making-of video, this army interview/battle footage compilation, and this goofy video of the actual battle, set to Led Zeppelin.

4. Other than making lots of theatre....I've been taking some pics! Here are a few from a recent shoot with TryCaviar, a super awesome new food delivery/catering service for fancy restaurants in the Philly area. (These are from Aya's Cafe. Yum.) More on them later....look them up!

That's all for now, folks. Will update soon with other exciting things! But in the meantime, girl needs her sleep before a long few weeks of shows. Happy almost autumn! Happy Fringe! Much love!

(Oh, last thing. I adopted a kitten. Her name is Cleopatra. I think that's really all that needs to be said on the subject.)
