The Beat.
I grew up taking drum lessons from my dad. And then from a person who wasn't my dad. Percussion is at the core of who I am as an artist. I also studied piano for ten years, and picked up a whole lot of other instruments along the way. I write (a lot of) songs about a lot of things, and sometimes I record them. I've played in pit bands, orchestras, jazz bands, folk bands, rock bands, and clown bands. I music direct and compose in many genres, and love creating live scores for theatre.

TOP PICK: NPR Music All Songs Considered, Tiny Desk Submission - 2018
"Have you ever placed your keys between your fingers while walking alone at night? In "Night Walking" by Gracie & The So Beautifuls, Hannah Van Sciver plays a ring of keys, their jangle a steady metronome for Gracie Martin's jazz vocals and lyrics...With its sparse rhythm, "Night Walking" is a defiant ballad for anyone who has bravely stepped outside at night, a Wolverine with makeshift claws." - Stefanie Fernández, NPR Music |
